Lionel didn’t get much information out of the couple apart from when they first met. ‘Just in the normal way, I guess,’ he informed us as we walked off down the cobble streets. ‘Met in a park, she was running, he accidentally tripped her up and it was love, at first sight.’

‘People jus’ don’t do tha’ anymore’ Saskia said beating me to the punch. ‘It jus’ sounds so… lame.’

I smiled. ‘I would have said mature cheddar cheese but either way,’ we laughed.

‘Oh, come on,’ Henry said turning around to face me, ‘we both know you fancied me Tara as soon as you saw me.’

Looking past him I saw Hannah and Lottie share a strange look. Henry was acting like an arsehole. What changed in the past twenty-four hours?

My eyes narrowed. I was getting fed up of him attacking me like this and here I was, taking it. ‘Yes exactly, fancied, past tense,’ I shot back, feeling my cheeks turn red and hot from embarrassment, I hated confrontations.

‘Come on you don’t need this,’ Hannah said grabbing my hand and dragging me off away from him. ‘Calm down,’ she said soothingly, ‘just ignore him.’

‘I just don’t get why he’s acting like this to me. What have I done wrong?’

Hannah sighed. ‘Lottie and I discussed it and we think it’s because you knew something about his mother that he didn’t and he’s jealous. You have all these cool powers and you are the leader of the group and he isn’t and he’s acting up, trying to be all dominant.’

Scoffing, ‘Really?’ I turned around to see Henry looking at me, ‘Arsehole,’ I mouthed then turned to face the front again.

‘That’s not gonna help either of you, is it?’ Hannah frowned.

‘Does me,’ I told her simply.

Finding a cheap hotel, which coincidentally was called Romeo e Giulietta, I decided to take Macie and Lionel out for a pizza. After all Macie had had a knife to her throat and Lionel went all dog on us; so I thought it would be nice to treat them.

‘I’m going out,’ I told Saskia, who unfortunately was my roommate again.

‘Fine, I’m gonna stay an’ read ya book.’

‘Ah, ah,’ I said snatching it up before she got her grubby paws on it. ‘It’s mine.’

‘But ya don’t read it,’ she protested.

‘I’ve read more than you think I have,’ I told her truthfully.

I met up with Lionel and Macie outside the hotel and we ventured off to the city. We noticed without doubt that love was in the air. There were so many couples around us, either walking or on scooters, giggling, kissing, cuddling or laughing; everywhere you looked, in fact. Amongst them though were the usual walkers, gal pals and also a few teenage boys passed us, talking and laughing.

‘What is it?’ Macie asked Lionel as he started to chuckle.

‘They think you two have nice legs.’

Both turning around, we saw them walking backwards looking at us. One of them, who weren’t looking where he was going, hit a lamppost and yelled loudly rubbing his head.
